Converting rolling stock is one of the first steps in the transition to ERTMS. The adjustment in infrastructure will occur at a later time. All the existing and future rolling stock must thus be able to use both ERTMS and ATB.
Trains with an ERTMS on-board system require a component that allows ATB and ERTMS to communicate. This component is called an STM-ATB.
Purchasing STM-ATBEG
In 2015, the ERTMS Programme Management decided to develop the STM-ATBEG. This STM is certified according to the European and national applicable specifications. The blueprint, prototype and the technical documents are available to buyers.
Interested parties can purchase an STM-ATBEG/Vv licence. To obtain the licence, the licence manager pays a one-time fee of € 30,000 excl. VAT. You can start the process by clicking the button below.
Purchase STM-ATBEG
Start process
The party buying the licence is responsible for the creation of an STM (or having one created). They also take care of its integration and use. This also applies to management, maintenance and repairs. Parties who can purchase the licence are, for example, railway entrepreneurs, equipment owners or ERTMS suppliers.
STM-ATBNG for the new generation
After prior development and realisation of the STM-ATBEG, we are now also working on the STM-ATBNG. The ERTMS Programme Management has an STM-ATBNG under development that will become available to parties who have their vehicle converted to ERTMS under the same market conditions as the STM-ATBEG.
