The contractor uses the railway network to transport its machines from one location to the other. Therefore, these machines must be equipped with ERTMS. Otherwise, the contractor needs to use a locomotive, which increases the cost of the works.

Yellow fleet

All the contractors’ equipment is collectively named the 'yellow fleet', as the vehicles used by contractors are mostly painted yellow.
